Patch Challenges
Carver Memorial Library encourages everyone, kids, adults, teens, and families, to take on our Reading Challenges! We encourage you to read widely and explore the library and the world around you. This summer the theme is “Tails and Tales,” celebrating animals. The challenges this year are Animals, Fairytales, Maine History, Searsport, and STEAM.
To complete each challenge, log reading and activities to earn an embroidered patch/badge. Independent readers read 3 books (appropriate to your reading level) and do 3 activities related to the theme. Family readers/children being read to/pre-readers read 5 books and do 3 activities. All the details and log sheets on our Patch challenge page. |
Video Stories
Our video stories, Maine Moments, recorded events, and more are posted on our Vimeo account, with showcases of songs, stories, and local interest videos, and also on Facebook.

Using Zoom videoconferencing
Events and discussions are moving online! Libraries all over are hosting meetings with Zoom, a videoconferencing platform. Even if you just want to watch and listen (or don't have a webcam or microphone), please join us! Generally you can join Zoom meetings by clicking the link and following the prompts. You can also read the help info at Getting started with Zoom (there's a program to install for desktop, apps for mobile, and a Chrome browser option). Pardon our dust as we all learn to use new tools.
Friendly introduction from the Maine Digital Inclusion Initiative: If you need help getting started with Zoom, there are details and pictures here. For dialing in by your location: +1 646 876 9923 US (New York) +1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago) +1 253 215 8782 US +1 301 715 8592 US |
